With the symbolic harvest of the first Pinot Grigio grape in the province of Trapani/Sicily the grape harvest in Italy has started on August 7th. In the South as well as in the North Pinot grapes and Chardonnay are the first to be picked, followed by Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Nebbiolo and others in September and October. In November the harvest of Aglianico and Nerello will finish the season.
Despite the unsettled weather conditions a good quality vintage is expected, however the estimated quantity will be about 10% below that of 2018.
