Abruzzo is a rather unknown wine region. The perhaps most famous representative is the red wine Montepulciano d’Abruzzo.
At the foot of the Apennine Mountains the vineyards range towards the Adriatic Sea up to an altitude of 600 m.a.s.l. and benefit from a mild climate. The total vine area stretches out over 33,000 hectares and is therefore a par with the Piedmont. Due to a very interesting price-treat ratio commerce focuses more and more on this region.
