Campania region has approximately 41,000 hectares of vineyards and is one of Italy's oldest wine regions. Here is also the origin of the historic "Falernian". The Mediterranean climate, proximity to the sea, the protecting mountains and the volcanic soils provide ideal conditions for viticulture. From the grape variety Aglianico very robust and aromatic reds are made come on the market as Taurasi DOCG. Other varieties are Asprinio Bianco, Biancolella, Coda di Volpe, Falanghina, Fiano, Forastera, Greco and Piedirosso. About 3% of the total vineyard areas are DOC wines.
