Plenty of sun, heat, low rainfall and poor soils are the natural conditions for viticulture and bring Sicily expressive red and white wines, which grow to a height of 900 meters. With around 134,000 hectares of Sicily is the largest wine-growing region of Italy. Due to massive quantitative restrictions Sicily recovers increasingly from mass productions and shows its real potential to produce quality wines. Initially Sicilian wine became famous for the Marsala. Today especially the varieties Nero d'Avola, Grillo and Cataratto enjoy great demand from consumers all over the world.
